What is the event about?

THINK AFRICA WEEK is the flagship annual week-long program organised by Think Africa and its partners. The event focuses on bringing different people, organisations, companies together to dialogue, inspire, and collaborate

Opening Ceremony: Towards a more connected society

The Opening ceremony brings together different stakeholders from the Finnish society and the African diaspora community to discuss, network and collaborate better towards a more functional and accepting society. The event through discussions, performances and exhibitions aims to build networks, inspire cultural exchange and strengthen connections towards this goal.

Re/Connecting integration policies to Immigrants’ Experiences: Case of Morocco-Finland-Africa tripartite cooperation

(10:00 – 13:00)
Migration and integration are often seen as threats to the host country, in particular to European countries which have often been the hosts. But the narrative is changing and should change. This event brings together migration and integration policy makers to share best practices from regions such as Morocco, Finland, Senegal and East Africa. In addition, the event will highlight the impact of integration policies on the wellbeing and productivity of the migrants that experience them.

Closing the gap between the African diaspora and Finnish-Africa strategy: A workshop for concrete actions

(10:00 – 14:00)
This event pushes the boundary beyond just discussions and results in a concrete strategy for diaspora engagement in the Finland-Africa Strategy. It builds on the previous two Lean In events which have brought different players in the Nordic-Africa relations for sharing best practices and networking.

(Slush Side Event) Rethink Africa: Expanding Opportunities through Technology and Collaboration

(17:30 – 20:00)
The African startup scene is filled with entrepreneurs displaying unbridled resourcefulness, unbelievable talent, and unlimited potential. This event will feature 11 Southern African social impact entrepreneurs competing in the BOOST UP 2021 Pitch Competition Finals, followed by a networking mixer. Join us to find out what African startups have to offer, discover ways to unlock new opportunities through collaboration, and learn how you can be part of Africa’s growth.

Connecting with your health: Move, Think and Eat to live well

(16:00 – 18:30)
This event seeks to explore the notion of wellbeing from the viewpoint of exercise, food and mental habits that support optimal health. How can we move, think and eat to live well? This event though moving discussions and performance will challenge participants to create healthy relationships with food, cultivate the habit of routine exercise and practice mental habits that can support them to live well all the way.

Reconnecting Party with Afro Madness

(19:00 – Till late)
To close the week, attendees from the TAWeek will come together and connect socially with some music, performances, and dancing, in collaboration with Afro Sunday and Afrogane.
